Empowerment is about breaking barriers, creating opportunities, and sparking change in ourselves and others.

The challenges faced by underserved communities—financial insecurity, lack of resources, and systemic barriers—have only deepened in recent years. Programs focusing on workforce development, emotional wellness, and essential life skills provide the tools needed to overcome these challenges and foster enduring generational change.

Our Mission

Empower, Educate, and Equip low-income communities to break generational cycles of brokenness and poverty and build better, stronger communities. We foster economic strength and stability for underserved people through life skills, education, workforce development, and entrepreneurship. In our region, 1 in 4 people live in poverty. Of 109,000 cities and towns, our child poverty rate is the 7th highest in the country. Yet, we believe in the power to break barriers, develop new systems, and implement sustainable change.

The Need

  • Women are paid 84% of what men are paid (DOL).
  • Closing the promotion gap between men and women can boost GDP by 35% (International Monetary Fund).
  • In our region, 1 in 4 people live in poverty.

Our Programs

I Am Brilliant Youth Enrichment and Development Program for Girls

The I Am Brilliant Youth Development Program for Girls was established to empower, educate, and equip girls from low-income communities to break generational cycles of poverty and create a foundation of economic strength and personal growth. It is rooted in a holistic approach that integrates soft-skills job readiness, financial literacy, emotional wellness, and life skills development, addressing the unique needs of participants.

This program is designed to have a lasting impact across generations. By providing girls with tools for self-discovery and success, the I Am Brilliant program not only fosters their personal growth but also helps create stronger, healthier families. A key focus is on fostering mentorship and building essential life skills to support participants during critical stages of their development. Collaborative opportunities for mothers and daughters further reinforce these efforts, creating a shared path toward stability and success.

Financially Brilliant: SheCounts

Financially Brilliant: SheCounts is a transformative program tailored for women in low-income communities who are determined to break generational cycles of poverty and achieve lasting financial independence. The program equips participants with essential tools in soft-skills job readiness, life skills, financial literacy, and emotional wellness, fostering both personal and professional growth to pave a pathway toward economic stability and strength.

With a holistic and collaborative approach, SheCounts provides targeted support to address the unique challenges women face. The program empowers participants to take control of their futures while creating a ripple effect that uplifts families and communities.

Through mentorship, skill-building opportunities, and shared learning experiences—such as mother-daughter financial literacy sessions—SheCounts emphasizes the power of generational collaboration and builds a foundation for enduring success.

About Us

Growing up in an underserved community, poverty shaped much of my early life. For years, understanding my worth and feeling in control seemed impossible. Outwardly, I was an overachiever—excelling in school and climbing the career ladder. But inside, I felt broken, unable to express what I was feeling or what I truly needed.

Even as I earned promotions and accolades in my career, I struggled with the soft skills needed to inspire and lead my teams effectively. Financially, I felt capped because the skills that accounted for much of professional success were underdeveloped. There was no structure for growth or improvement—just an expectation to figure it out.

Working in environments where development wasn’t a priority only made it harder. Professional growth, especially in soft skills, wasn’t on the table. Either you succeeded or you didn’t—and if you didn’t, there was no safety net or guidance to help you improve. I had to navigate leadership by trial and error, often feeling unsupported and uncertain.

These experiences lit a fire in me to create I Am Brilliant and Financially Brilliant. These programs are deeply personal—they are about giving girls and women from underserved communities what I didn’t have: tools to break generational cycles of poverty and embrace their potential.

Through self-discovery, soft-skills job readiness, economic empowerment, financial literacy, life skills, and personal growth strategies, I Am Brilliant and Financially Brilliant are designed to help participants transform their lives.

At the heart of these programs is a simple belief: with the right resources and support, every girl and woman can uncover her brilliance, take charge of her future, and create lasting change—not just for herself, but for her family and community as well.
